Approach

Louise’s approach is gentle, person-centred and client-led. She works in a non-directive, collaborative way, allowing space to explore previous experiences and identities and make sense of how these may be shifting due to life changes or demands.

She is interested in how we can lose touch with ourselves through people-pleasing, perfectionism or prioritising others, and in supporting women to reconnect with their own values, needs and sense of self.

She values self-trust and autonomy and the freedom to explore each client’s needs, feelings and values without judgement or expectation.

About Louise

Louise is a person-centred counsellor. Through her work with a maternal mental health charity, she supported women experiencing postnatal depression, anxiety and challenging birth experiences. She also worked with a charity supporting NHS staff, gaining insight into the particular pressures of caring for others both professionally and personally.

Before becoming a counsellor, Louise worked in music performance and education. These experiences have given her insight into performance anxiety, self-doubt, confidence and the pressures and expectations we can experience in working life.

She works with adults experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, self-doubt and difficulties around identity and self-worth, including women navigating shifting identities, changing relationships and family roles, people-pleasing and the pressures of trying to meet different expectations.

What You Can Expect

Louise is naturally warm and approachable, and enjoys bringing a sense of spaciousness and humour to her work. She hopes clients feel comfortable coming as they are, without any expectation to prepare, have a particular plan or know where to begin.

She thinks there’s room for everything in therapy, from the everyday things that bring lightness to the heavier, more challenging experiences.

She hopes to offer a space where women feel able to reconnect with themselves, develop greater trust in their own feelings and choices and find their own way towards a more authentic, balanced life.
